FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the return policy?

We will work with you if for some reason you wish to return product which is unused and undamaged. Our goal is for everyone to be totally satisfied with their purchase; if this isn't the case, let us know and we'll do our best to work with you to make it right.

Are any purchases final sale?

We may occasionally offer special package deals on offcuts and oddball pieces from our Abalone Sheets collection; if and when we do, these one-off specials will be all sales final. All digital earring file sales are final.

When will I get my order?

We will work quickly to package up orders as they come in; as soon as an order is packaged and shipped, you will receive a tracking number through email. Please understand that USPS shipping times can be notoriously hard to predict with packages going from Hawaii to the mainland, so once we mail your package out, we don't have any control over how fast it gets to you. Estimated delivery dates and tracking progress will be available via your tracking number.

Where are your products manufactured?

These specialty Abalone sheets are manufactured on the island of Maui, in the state of Hawai'i.

How much does shipping cost?

We charge a flat rate of $8.00 for shipping within the United States, on any order below $100.00. Orders of $100.00 and over receive free shipping.

Do you ship internationally?

We can ship to some countries. Please understand your country's laws regarding the importation of Abalone products; we will not be responsible for packages which are seized or turned away. International shipping is calculated at time of checkout.

What are the sizes of the Abalone sheets?

A full sheet is approximately 9.5"x5.5"; a half sheet is approximately 5.5"x4.7"; and a quarter sheet is approximately 4.75"x2.75". Sheet thickness, including 3M backing, is approximately 0.5mm. Please note that some cracking and chipping is to be expected around the edges of these sheets, and is an unavoidable result of the manufacturing process.

How should I store my abalone products?

These sheets should be kept in a dry environment, and not subjected to extremes of temperature. At home, we like to cover our sheets with transfer paper right away and store them in plastic sleeves in a 3 ring binder.

Do you offer bulk or wholesale orders?

Currently we do not offer any bulk or wholesale discounts.

Is natural Abalone dangerous to cut in my laser machine?

Natural Abalone products can create toxic fumes when cut in laser machines. For this reason, it is important to ensure that you have a proper ventilation/fume extraction system running with your laser machine.

How can I find out about restocking and new product times?

Please add your email to the email list below. We will only ever send emails when we restock product or add new colors and varieties of Abalone; we will never send spammy or promotional emails.

How can I use the digital earring files?

We have made these digital earring files for your convenience, to use in combination with our Abalone inlay sheet goods. These files are made in Inkscape, a free vector design program, and are saved as Inkscape SVG files. If you want to manipulate these files, you will need to use Inkscape, or convert the files to the correct file type for the program you use. These files will load directly into most laser interface programs, such as Lightburn, the Glowforge app, etc. The orange part of the file is the earring body, the black is the earring engraving (the depression for the Abalone inlay), and the separate green part of the file is the Abalone inlay cutout. Cut and engrave settings will depend on the machine type and material you are working with, so can't be given here. Your goal should be to achieve an engraving depth of approximately 0.5mm. Instructions for making your own inlay files is given in the tutorial video in the "gallery" section of this website.
